The Best Honeymoon Resort in Sri Lanka: Ahu Bay
M y husband and I had an amazing wedding in India, but after all the running around, dancing, and planning, we were SO ready for a relaxing honeymoon. Luckily, we found a perfect resort in Sri Lanka that was everything we could have wanted for our honeymoon.
Ahu Bay is a boutique beach house hotel that is located on the southern coastline of Sri Lanka, in Ahungalla. When we booked this hotel, we were worried it wasn’t close enough to the Galle and we would miss out on seeing the highlight of Sri Lanka. Honestly, it was so nice to be a little more secluded and to truly unplug and relax at this beautiful resort.
Ahu Bay had everything we could have wanted for our honeymoon from stellar hospitality to luxurious rooms, from quiet beaches to a breathtaking infinity pool. To top it all off the property has an outstanding restaurant and spa. Check out the beautiful spaces and our experience below.

Check-in
Right when we arrived at Ahu Bay, we were immediately relaxed. We walked in through the luxurious modern reception and were greeted with a welcome drink. There’s no waiting in line at the check in counter. We lounged by the pool while they brought over the check in paperwork and details.
Rooms and Suites
All of the rooms and suites are absolutely stunning, you can’t go wrong. We booked a standard room with a balcony and it felt like an upscale suite. The modern design, sleek bathrooms, and little details like robes and an espresso machine, really upgrade the experience.
Hospitality
We had the best experience with hospitality while we were at Ahu Bay. We told them we were on our honeymoon and they turned down our bed with beautiful towel arrangements.
I told them I have a gluten intolerance, and they sent us a gluten free cake to celebrate. We even had a minor problem with the room, and they fixed it immediately, sent us a box of chocolates, and comped our wine at dinner.
Amenities
Between the private beach with cabanas and the infinity pool, we always had a relaxing spot to enjoy. Since it is a boutique hotel, it is never too busy and it really felt private and secluded.
Restaurant
Since this is a small property, there is only one restaurant, but it is all you need! There were tons of gluten free options for me, and they customized everything to fit my needs. We had a delicious seafood dinner and a nice selection of drinks!
